As most of you know, I have been on a bike of some sorts with a car tire since 02. I had a trip planned over to Arkansas and the twistees. So I thought I would install a new Avon rear tire before I went to see what it was like to ride the Rocket with a MT. The Raptor only had 8k on it and looked almost new when we took it off. I spent the 236.00 for the new Avon and the 40 bucks to get it installed. Headed over to Arkansas and had a blast terrorizing the country side.
I couldn't really tell the dfference in the tire once I was up and rolling. I did have the tire lock up and go side ways with me once when I came into a corner to hot. The CT would have shut me down and would not have locked up on me. Small pucker factor when that happened.
Went for a breakfast run last Sunday morning with about 6 others. On our ride we came across some roads that had just had some new chip and seal patches done. I have never had to ride a bike at 30 mph and slower thru the corners because of road conditions. But we couldn't go over about 35 mph and the bike would feel like it was going to slide out from underneath you when you made any sterring adjustment.
For the entire 30 mile stretch of road was nothing but white knuckles and puckered A** holes. I have riden on many a roads like these with my CT and never had any problems like that. I have about 1200 miles on the new Avon and I can't wait to wear it down enough to warrent replacing it with another CT. The bad thing about it is when they removed the Raptor they damaged the bead and I can not reuse it. Good thing thay are only about 90 bucks. I learned my lesson, back to a car tire for me.
