As most of you know, I have been on a bike of some sorts with a car tire since 02. I had a trip planned over to Arkansas and the twistees. So I thought I would install a new Avon rear tire before I went to see what it was like to ride the Rocket with a MT. The Raptor only had 8k on it and looked almost new when we took it off. I spent the 236.00 for the new Avon and the 40 bucks to get it installed. Headed over to Arkansas and had a blast terrorizing the country side.
I couldn't really tell the dfference in the tire once I was up and rolling. I did have the tire lock up and go side ways with me once when I came into a corner to hot. The CT would have shut me down and would not have locked up on me. Small pucker factor when that happened.
Went for a breakfast run last Sunday morning with about 6 others. On our ride we came across some roads that had just had some new chip and seal patches done. I have never had to ride a bike at 30 mph and slower thru the corners because of road conditions. But we couldn't go over about 35 mph and the bike would feel like it was going to slide out from underneath you when you made any sterring adjustment.
For the entire 30 mile stretch of road was nothing but white knuckles and puckered A** holes. I have riden on many a roads like these with my CT and never had any problems like that. I have about 1200 miles on the new Avon and I can't wait to wear it down enough to warrent replacing it with another CT. The bad thing about it is when they removed the Raptor they damaged the bead and I can not reuse it. Good thing thay are only about 90 bucks. I learned my lesson, back to a car tire for me.

I never have that problem with MT but i always make sure i bed them in nicely before hitting corners to hard .That gloss on the top of the new tread is always slippery til ya get some heat into them

Amen brother ... I'm a believer !!!

Sounds like Hellfire drank the Koolaid, and he ain't comin' back.

My Avon rear goes on Tuesday, and the Metz ain't looking too pretty at the moment. Hell, maybe I should just do both at the same time and see what new shoes feel like, good and proper. They're both sitting on the porch.

I'm waiting to hear the long term Hellfire thoughts on his tire choice too.

As of today, it's like it was always there ...

Ride is smoother, grips better and I don't even feel the flatness of it anymore.

The dark side i sense in you Master Evans, Yoda not happy and Chubaca wants to take the handlebars:D

heck Big T, I'm just glad you're able to ride again.
Dang that was a long break you took.
Still good after them Arkansas twistys?
hope so.
We need to hook up with mex, and emwolb, and terrorize the harley dealerships, or something.
Maybe head for Kansas Sunday if I ain't workin'..

Im all about it, we can pick up GWilliams on our way there:)

Hmmmm Ineresting
Hellfire has never steered me wrong in the past i have done a few mods to the machine based on his input
maybe i should try the darkside tire.

Hang on just got a message from the ducati team it seems all of Rossi,s problems started because he is running darkside tires on the back :D
Now it makes sense.

Na just kidding i might give one a try when this tire wears down cant really bag them till i try them i guess
