Hitch Doc with CT

Hey Atomsplitter that a sweet looking Hitch (I wish I had gotten my Classic Ind Tow Hitch in chrome finnish really) is it that made from hollow tube or solid and what weight is it rated at? The reason I ask is it appears the drawing weight is taken on the rear footpeg mounts, I don't know if I would like to put my overweight trailer on footpeg mounting bolts, or is it actually mounted to the sub-frame behind the pillion footpeg.
Please understand I am not having a shot at the Hitch, just asking cos the hitch sure looks the goods and I would consider shipping one over here if strong enought:cool:

I'll sell you that hitch if you want it. The tubes are solid. it aligns to the peg holes. I used a #8 (I think) bolt through the peg to mount them. I used long bolts through the sub-frame to fender mounts and put a washer and nut to hold the vertical straps. I towed that trailer for 3000 miles loaded to the gunnels (about 300 pounds) with camping gear (including a stove). I also rode the 'dragon' but left the trailer off on that bit. If you want me to ship you the hitch let me know (we can work out a price).

Nice pics, Atomsplitter. Uncle Jessie, any handling problems with the Hitch Doc? Planning on putting on a Riken Raptor 225/55/16. Taking a trip from the east coast to the west coast in August.

Just make sure the ball hitch on the trailer rotates 360 degrees and you won't have any trouble. My Rocket is an 05 as well. One word of warning, if you use your rear brake as your primary, take the pedal off it'll only get you into trouble. Brake SOLELY with the front and you can ride aggressive as you want. Use that rear and expect to be turned sideways in a heartbeat. I can bear witness to the sphincter puckering power of the rear brake while towing.:eek::eek:

I've had the hitchdoc hitch on mine for about 3 years . . half of that with a goodyear eagle CT on the back. The only issue is that whatever you have for problems with the CT . . . uneven pavement, following ruts, etc. is amplified with the trailer AT LOW SPEEDS. Not an issue at all at highway speeds.
