Thank you gents. So much info but generally the concensus seems to be the alarm. Seems like a good place to start for me. I have heard about the headlight by pass before ozrider, so if cutting the alarm dosn't do it then that will be the next port of call.
Cheers all. I'll let you know how I get on over the next few days hopefully.

I had the same problem a few years back, lights, horn, everything worked but when i hit the switch nothing happened, turned out to be the clutch switch, in fact, i think it is malfunctioning again because when i hit the button with the clutch pulled all the way it will not start, i have to play with the clutch a little, let it out a hair and it starts cranking, try that and see if it helps:)
Just had a look at that. The cable is very tight coming from the from of the clutch lever and twisted back on itself going into the main wiring hose coming from the switch housing. Might be worth investigating too.

Seems like the described symptoms are consistent with a failing ignition switch, but your bike has so few miles it is hard to believe the ignitioh switch would be failing so early. The clutch switch on the other hand gave me problems within months of owning the bike, I eventually disconnected it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of peculiar Rocket electrical issues. Fun eh? Here is what I did to resolve them.

Disconnect clutch switch. Double thickness positive and negative battery cables. Toggle switch ignition (keyless would be better). Honker's additional starter relay mod (When your starter just goes "click" How to fix it). Regular cleaning or replacement of the main fuse and of course regular maintenance of the battery and connections.

I guess I gave you miss information on the harness connectors as DEcosse pointed out ..... I'm sure you're smart enough to know the difference in the one hooked to the alarm and other hooked to the handle bar switches. On my Roadster the alarm connector is on top just looking right at you....lol

After sitting down and watching some college football I was thinking about your situation. First thing that kept popping up in my mind was the clutch switch. So like others have said check that out good. I hate electrical gremlins.

Hi Mully. Just fitted the alarm by-pass plug and it didnt work! Alarm kept going off every 45 secs. Perhaps the dealer gave me the wrong one? Gonna plaster the clutch switch with WD40 then call my dealer tomorrow. Thanks for the support though, cheers.

If when it happens again try stealing the bars left to right etc - full lock to full lock (stationary or course) all the while depresssing the start button - if this cranks you will have a bad connection or wire. Unplug all the plugs under the tank one by one check for corrosion apply dilectric grease and reassemble - see how that goes
