Hello All,
Shell has started selling a nev V-Power fuel, at 99 Octane.
Does the Rocket advance/retard the ignition after the Octane used ?
Does anybody know if the 95 Octane in the " top" in the computer,
I mean if I put 99 Oct. in the tank, and the Rocket Computer
only has the capability of adjusting " up to 95 " then it´s a vaste of money. On the other hand, if the Computer can adjust
" beyond" the 95, and up to the 99, then I have more horsepower
to play with.
thanks to all
jan

Just use unleaded regular, i.e. 95 in most European countries. You'll not gain anything by using 98. You'll only waste money and might experience some additional decel popping. Cheers. Jamie

As Jamie alluded to, octane ratings differ from U.S. and anywhere else that I know of. ie., The calculation formula for octane is not universal. I dare say, the 99 octane you speak of, is likely equivalent to the rare 94 super supreme found in the U.S.

The BTUs will be higher with the super supreme. Perhaps the sensor will trim back on the fuel and perhaps not. I'm inclined to think not. I'll wager, the experts on the subject will likely be along shortly.

fuel

runs on 98 octane ( Australia) do give better mpg than the cheap (er) 91 octane.
Does the sensor adjust? i seriously doubt it. Running 91 in the lawnmower, i get an unburnable liquid residue left in the tank after a few mows... prolly its fulla ****/water etc. hence the better mpg from the higher quality 98 fuel.. more BTU's means less right hand for the same performance. However the price diff( close on 10 pct more) means theres no saving.. but cleaner fuel has got to be better for the bike .Personally i go for the half way house & use 95 fuel.

100 Octane

After a TuneBoy setup, I found a local station that sells 100 Octane for hot rods and racing cars. I filled it up and didn't notice a bit of difference in acceleration or power. I did notice a difference in the price...... $7.00 a gallon!

I'll stay at 89-91 for now

I burn the 93 to 98 top end gas Cheveron preferably only because by doing an exparenment I know I get better gas milage and cleaner burn. But like others have mentioned in my stock bike i feel no power diffrence.
