Heated grips question

SO can someone tell me how the heated grips work? I have a set on my second Rocket but do not know the switch function. By that I have heard there is two heat settings. If someone could walk me through the function I can at least see if mine work before I decide not to use them because of the nightmares you guys brought up. I might just have to look for a OEM set to switch out before I have any throttle cable problems.

Mine has a controller mounted and a dial to raise and lower, he temp. Although I may be wrong since it is stored in the garage....

My heated grips on the Rocket come with a big black knob (no not me; I'm not black) you put on the handlebars and then turn to adjust heat. Ugliest thing on my bike by a massive margin, including me, so you know that takes some doing. But it couldn't get more analog than this, turn the controller to adjust the heat, so probably not the same if there is any doubt how heat is adjusted.

I think it depends which version of heated grips you have. Mine have an ugly black plastic block with an up/middle/down toggle switch. up is high, middle is off and down is low. I also know some have a much neater push button switch, with an off/low/high scroll.
