Heated grips question

Yeah, when they fail what happens is that the actual throttle cable gets ripped clean out of the handle, leaving you unable to accelerate. Not sure they're otherwise bad, just that the plastic is either too soft or can't handle all the temperature swings.

to my knowledge most of the problems was with the r3t i had to replace mine 3 times if i was to get another r3t i would go for a after market set

What I have used on my goldwings is the rubber tube grip that is put on hockey sticks lots of different colours and density and thickness about £3 for a 2ft length

My 2011 R3T had them when I bought it in October.
The bike had less than 3k miles on it when I bought it but the grips did not work by that time.
My throttle cable STILL pulled out at about 4k miles.
I think it's probably age of the plastic more than heat cycles.

If you really like your grips you could probably use something like this to correct the problem before it starts.
I have a variant on my Voyager to correct the lag cause by their 'fly by wire' system.

Of course I'm not sure hitting WOT faster on the Rocket is necessary.

I'd prefer having an even slower throttle response, myself. This is especially for low speed riding, it's a bit of a challenge to stay smooth on the power and avoid "snatching", there is a fair bit of driveline lash on gears 1-3. Having the throttle cable perfectly adjusted with near-zero slack helps, but still.

I've had to prioritize my purchasing a little. Just got the new LED headlight, waiting for the expensive bike lift still, etc, so new grips haven't happened yet, but it will, I just don't trust these heated grips and I'd like more chrome anyway, so...

On another thread that I can not locate someone said that the new R3T had a much nicer stock grip (non heated). Any info on that and if they fit earlier models?

which dealer is this? Bevans in Cardiff? How do you find them?
