Heat Wrapping Headers?

I thinking about heat wrapping the headers to decrease heat on my right leg on hot days in stop and go traffic. From looking at past threads it appears several have tried this and some have removed it due to heat problems further down stream (starter and battery problems from the cross-over or cat box radiating the extra heat that wasn't allowed to radiate from the headers). I haven't seen any recent threads about this and I just wondering from those of you who have run with this what your long-term opinion is.

Thanks for any input!

Got my custom headers heat wrapped, has helped with the heat. Having some thick steel heat-sheilds made soon , but advised to keep the wrap as well. My exhaust system is full stainless , wrapped steel exhausts rust pretty quickly. Not experienced any of the issues that you mentioned .

Going to wrap my stainless exhaust as well, but currently thinking about having it cerami-coated first.

Why Not add a larger spacer between the shield anf the pipe to allow ,ore air to pass thru. It just might keep the shield cooler. Also add a heat shield tape to the shield once spaced. I figure 1/4 inch would surely help. Just a idea I have been thinking about doing to mine.
