MY neutral light is flickering and the bike shuts off with the kickstand down occasionally. Seems if I don't hold my mouth just right and fiddle with the shifter to get it right in the center of neutral, the light either doesn't come on or flickers.

The trans is going into neutral easy as always and it's obvious it's in neutral, but I'm wondering if the sender is messing up. It's lying to the GiPro too, sometimes it indicates 2nd or 3rd while in neutral.

Has anyone had this issue? I'll be pulling it out and taking a peek to see if it's an adjustment or cleaning issue, thought I'd check if anyone has had the same happen.

Isn't there a sidestand sensor that will kill the bike if you try to put it in gear with the sidestand down? Seems like that may be a first look. Other than that it might be the ole ignition switch going bad.

My neutral light doesnt illuminate sometimes as well when im in neutral and I find myself fidgeting to get the light to come on. It has never flickered however. I have had the kickstand up, put the trans in neutral, didnt get light, and let the clutch out and the bike kept running. Im wondering if as long as the GIPro is indicating neutral that is whats getting sent to the ECM and maybe I dont have to worry about the light. Your issue though sounds more like an adjustment and I may not be far behind! :D

I'm going to reset the GiPro tomorrow and if that doesn't work, *****around with the sender itself. I just moved it back to the garage and watched the light go out and the bike die while parked on the stand. Either the GPS is dropping out or the values have changed slightly ... just enough for the GiPro to be in between gears so that the vibration causes it to think it's now in 2nd or 3rd.
The light only flickers stopped at a light with the stand up, but of course when the stand is down and it does that the bike dies. It's more an annoyance than a problem and most likely and easy fix/adjustment since I've not heard of any GPS senders failing around here.

The windscreen is out of the Cooper until next week waiting on trim clips so I'll be on the bike weather or no weather. I'll take an 8mm wrench with me and do some adjusting.

Good idea, Ive been curious about adjusting this as I think mine needs it. Post up on the results and then I will tear into mine! :D

My neutral light started coming on in first gear a few weeks ago. I thought it was probably an adjustment, but since it is still under warranty I decided to let a dealer take a look at it. Turned out it was a bad gps. They replaced it and everything is fine now. The bike had about 2k on it when this happened.

Well, it seems there was nothing wrong with the GPS other than it and the GiPro were slightly out of sync.
I ran it through the auto-learn procedure and all is well now. It reads every gear perfectly again and neutral pops up with the green light solid and no dieing with the stand down.

I guess this just needs to be done every few years to keep it accurate, the last time it was done was three years ago.

HellFire,

I bet it's not fixed. I put my money on the GPS failing. I'm not having neutral problems but I'm still having GiPro problems. I took my GPS off the other day and there is no adjustment to it. I did clean it while it was out but it didn't help my issues. I don't think the GiPro has any affect on your neutral light. My Gipro faults out all the time but my neutral light never misses a beat.

Good luck and keep us posted if it returns.
