Just finished fitting a GIpro ATRE G1 gear position display
Now first off some may think these are not necessary for real bikers you've got a rev counter and should know what gear your in just by sensing the vibes through your arse but I find when I am on a fuel saving run ( not often in truth ) I find myself in 4th when I thought I was in 5th gear also if your not quite concentrating as hard as you should be knocking it down into 2nd or even 1st when you thought you were in 3rd can be a bit alarming sometimes ....right !!!! and I think they look pretty cool .
The one I got is the older version but it was new / unused and cheap ( thanks instant ...one of the good guys I think ) so any how here's a few photos of my custom / home install mod ...a beta version currently needs tidying up a bit and painting
not tried the derestricting feature as I run tuneecu
I have two Rockets and I wish I could remove the gear indicator from my Roadster, no time for them as you said your arse should tell you what gear you are in.

I got mine after seeing it on @Bedifferent 's bike, and I love it. Mostly I use it for not wasting time trying to shift when I'm concentrating on slow speed and coming to a stop.
You are welcome, Racer. The bracket works very well with GIpro handlebar mount, may you prefer to have it mounted that way. I have it on the left side of the handlebar - GIpro newer version. The craddle you have from me is designed to replace the small one on picture. I think the gipro handlebar mount costs like 25 money or so.. just in case..

That's the only reason I haven't installed mine yet -- I'm not handy with brackets, and sure would like one that would attach to the handlebars or elsewhere even as I'm running out room (so far, have McCruise control head, Triumph analog clock, Koso tachometer, Garmin Zumo 660, heat controller for Oxford grips). Hmm, maybe I need to be re-install the Avon heated grips with their integrated heat control.

Or just get wider, longer bars and keep adding!
Otherwise get a pair of double ended 1" dogbone clamp (or 1" and 7/8") and use a cut section of handlebar to provide more mounting space. If it was only a 6" or so piece of bar you could just use one clamp or have one on each side near your hands.
