Your right there Andy. If you want fuel economy out of the Rocket , drive like your granny. I laughed at the fuel prices in the US when I took my Rocket there in 2010. You've got it good over there guys.

I'm running stock intake, map, and exhaust, and I get near enough 35-40 mpg average. Maybe a wee bit better if I pretend I'm holding a raw egg instead of a throttle. When I ride more aggressively it drops to 30 or so mpg. That's why I'm thinking of even more efficient fun rides like the Yamaha TW 200. As it is, the Rocket does better by far than my pick-em-up trucks. It's a plus-plus situation.
since i'm soo obsesive about mileage i suppose i should post.
I have two vehicles i use on a day to day basis, a 2008 rocket 3 standard and a 1999 vw jetta (bora) TDi.
1) If i ride the rocket like an old man i can get 40mpg pretty easily, if i'm a hooligan i have seen it drop to 22mpg. I use 89 octane from a good station every time. (because I do believe that you get better mpg from different stations)
2) my jetta gets a consistent 48 us mpg every time. over the coarse of 650 ish miles.
3) I have my jetta for mpg i have my rocket for fun.
