Step1 go with the AVON's. I have run the Dunlops and the only one I would recommend would be the D404's, but I dont know if they make it in our size. :? I would strongly recommend NOT mixing and matching tires. That can be deadly. A mis-matched set of tires will cause all kinds of problems. The turning radius's will be different, the braking distances will be un-proportional, adhesion will be different on both ends of the bike. Man there are all kinds of problems with mixing and matching. I would really recommend you not try that.
What does Knackerd mean? Also please provide more info on this "ive stepped it"? If that means the tire has flat spots along the edges of the tread (at even intervals on both sides) that is tire pressure or it could be your forks. I have an old Gold Wing that one of the forks started to leak, I noticed the un-even wear and weird ride really quick. The most noticeable problem was radically bad braking. Because the forks were collapsing at different rates they were compressing unevenly. This resulted in "Canting" the tire from left to right. Try and picture in you mind the tread making contact with the rode. As the bike compresses closer to the tire when brakes are applied pressure will be distributed from one side of the tire to the other in an oscillating manner. Basicly like a see-saw. This will cause that type of wear. It will also cause lock ups under heavy braking. Because not all of the contact patch of the tread is connecting to the rode. If the forks feel like they chatter and you dont have a warped rotor the first place I would look is the fluid levels in your forks. If that wasn't the problem I would change the fork springs to a progressive rate spring. I dont know whowould make one that fits our bikes but beleive me they are worth more than the rear shocks.
The rear shocks keep your ass together, the fork springs keep your head on straight.
Right here we go knackered means worn out. When i said the tyre is stepped i mean ive worn the tyre out on one side the side i go on roundabouts(rotarys)i think the problem may be a faulty tyre man even Rossi has faulti tyres so i may just get another tyre as i dont fancy mix and matching and ive just got a new back tyre .Just raised the forks 6mm as well and am going to see what that does.Just generally playing around at the minute to see what happens but wanted to know if any one else had had a play so im not going over old ground. The fork springs will be changed in the winter when i find out how Sully gets on with his hint hint.
Sully hope you are joking :? . I am banned from the town bike shop for what I was stopped from completing to the tire mechanic for his mis-mounting a front tire backwards . That's a mistake that will guarantee a fatal result, with me and mine. I dont like lawyers and the court system is not effective in dealing with criminal ignorance. I'll take justice into my hands immediatly. When its my families wellbeing perfection is acceptable.
Again I would not recommend mixing and matching tires. That can have some seriously bad results. Check your fork springs or possibly your brakes and rotors.
Yes I am planning on going to the "Dark Side", yes that is mis-matching tires. It is for a specific riding reason. It is not to enhance performance, it will IMO lessen perfomance, but increase longevity. I would not recommend this for "twisty riders".

Joking big time , thats why I put the smileys after
As for the dark side , it did not lessen performance for me , took a few hundred miles to get used to it , and it was great through the twisties , its about all we got in Hereford   Only reason I dropped it off was the pillion said it was more uncomfortable for her
Yes Sir, the Darkside is plenty fine for tight corners. Still, I won't beat a competent rider on a sportbike in the corners, but then neither would a stock Rocket either.
Since my Rocket has been down so much this year, I've had a ton of time on the 675 and been getting very fond of how fast she can take the corners. It's the only time the Rocket actually feels slow. Best get her back running soon before I migrate competely to the sportbike side...
