I was hoping I could get some help, I have had the Darkside Ripken raptor on for around a 1000 miles, I have the PSI set at 28, I am getting some very weird wear on my front tire, it has a ridge formed in the center and the sides seem to be scrubbing? Is this normal?

Thanks Mark.

that is common with the dark side as it forces you to counter steer more scrubbing the front tire with some highway miles you will have three flat sides on the front.

Just to get some more info on you situation... do you have a Metz tire on the front? All Metz tires are garbage.

I had Metz/car tire combo once and mine did the same thing. I could be wrong but it's because the car tire is "pushing" the front tire in the corners. Also the added pressure you feel in the handle bars when you added the car tire is got to go somewhere. My theory is it goes to the front tire. Like I said it might not have anything to do with it but that's all I could figure when I had the same problem. I've since switched back to motorcycle tire on the rear.
I have tried all different tire combos at different air pressures. The best combo I have found out of all of that is (for me) Avon’s AV71 Cobra Front Tire and Bridgestone Exedra Max Radial 240/55/16. You're not going to find the Bridgestone in the 50 series but 55 is perfectly ok. I've just bought a rear tire and it cost $162 total shipped to my door. I've bought Riken Radial before and it cost me $112 total shipped to the door. For the price difference I would rather pay the extra $50 and not have tire cupping issues on the front, struggle with the bike in parking lots, and can run proper air pressures up front and rear, and other issues.

The debate on car tires can get very heated but I'm just stating what works for me and what COULD be causing your front tire problems.

Ok thanks for your help, I figured that it was probably the rear tire causing the issue and yes I have a metz on the front. I will be looking to change that soon.

BTW...I have run two Metz fronts on two different bikes and they do the same thing even when they aren't run in conjunction with a DS rear tire. Metzler is not a great choice for a front tire
