Old man on a bike
I just replaced my front tire on my touring and torqued everything properly to specs. 65 NM on the axle bolt, 20 NM on the pinch bolts and 40 on the brake calipers when I reinstalled them. I did not install new brake pads as the original pads had quite a bit of mileage left on them. The front wheel turned freely without the calipers, but I notice with the calipers installed there is some drag on the wheel slowing and stopping it. I did not disturb the pads in any way. I turned the wheel by hand and applied the brakes several times. but at this point in time there is still some lite drag on the wheel. Basically the wheel turns but does not turn completely free like it did without the calipers. I did wipe down the disks with solvent and it is cold outside 35 degrees. I suspect they will seat back in quickly with warmer fluid temps and a few stops when riding season returns.
The best I can describe it is....the pads ride gently on the discs slowing and stopping the wheel. I didnt note what it was like before removing the calipers and tire. Does this sound normal for the reinstall?
