..king of fleece hit the nail on the head..starting the bike for a couple of minutes is the worst thing to do..change the oil and forget about it until riding season starts again..

Put a toy to bed correctly and leave it alone. When you start them all you do is introduce H20 (by-product of combustion) into the system. This does nothing good and leaving it to idle does not get the water out, not to mention what may remain in the pipes. Yes, remove the battery and place it on a Battery-Tender and it'll be fine for next year.

I pass this on after being in the powersports business for over 20 years. take it for what you will.

what he said. If you are going to start it, ride it. Not only ride it, but ride it for a while. Otherwise, take the battery out and leave it alone.

Watch out for Dave (Scot in Exile) he has a habit of "borrowing" parts and accessories while it is left unattended. Besides he may harbor a "historical" grudge against the english.

The best advice I was given about R3's and batteries was to remove the stock battery, sell it to someone with a "little" bike and install an Odyssey 625. It starts everytime.
