Fix for early rocket seat

ok, I did search. And at one time about 13 years ago I knew the answer and yes I just didn’t fix it then but now is really pissing me off.....

My 05 seat won’t release. And **** hard to remove without two people, one to turn the seat release key and one to press down and hopefully lift the seat. What’s the fix?

Is it a 1-pce dual seat? - if so there is a second latch for the rear - there should be a cable operated release on the LH side

I have completely sorted out and cleaned and then oiled and works very gently

once off you can put a couple of washers under the seat catch to raise it, after you have cleaned and lubed of course.

I got rid of the Key component. Stuck it open with a piece of hard copper wire. Use only the rear one. Can You imagine snapping a key in there

I had the opposite problem with my 2011 Roadster as the seat would not stay locked, simple adjustment and some lubrication cleared the problem right up, the 2005 did not come with the dual seat
(pretty sure it was 2006 before we saw them)plus he is using his key so that rules out the dual seat.

Fortunately, the side covers were removed to install fan relay.....so cleaned key mechanism, pulled cable to release seat and lubrications liberally applied, works easily now.
