First start in ~10 weeks, MIL on!?

Yeah, I've heard that before but if we move, it probably won't be to such a culturally rich environment. It would probably be some low crime rate place with lots of room for my vegetable garden, a workshop for the bikes and a place to keep them out of the weather; why would I leave my crime ridden paradise for that?

Started mine yesterday, Last time was at the end of November . I use a trickle charger, but I don't leave it on all the time. Install it for 48 hrs once a month. That way the battery is actually working, clock drains charge down, charger brings it back to where it's suppose to be. Battery is 4 yrs old & works all the time. I have verified connections once a yr while doing seasonal winterizing crap.

As I stated many times my 05 has a phantom draw...if i don't keep the trickle charger on 24/7 the voltage drops substantially.Just a few days without it effects the battery.

I like the idea of cycling the battery rather than continuous trickle, thanks.

Interesting problems, phantom random anything is not good. I'll take it off the trickle and measure voltage after a few days and see what happens.

I keep mine on a smart charger constantly . These measure and monitor the battery condition and trickle , boost or nothing , as required ?
I winter my bike every year for at least 4 to 5 months at a time , with no issues thus far ! Not advisable to winter the bike too long tho with used oil , as this goes caustic and can cause internal corrosion . Also , if you run her up now and again over the lay up period ? Run her up for a good while , otherwise condensation will form in the engine and exhaust . Again , not a good thing !

My 2012 is like that. A half dozen days and it won't start. The 2011 holds up for weeks. I reckon tis all the extras I've put on the 2012.
I started using a "smart trickle charger" last week to see if that works . . .

Hey! I haven't read every replay to this post yet but i had the same issues between the thunderbird and the rocket. The thunderbird did very strange electronic things when the battery was dead/battery went bad. Yea the voltage looks good at 13-14 volts but a bad battery wont put the cranking amps out to start the big motor and keep the ecu and spark plugs all on the same page.... electronic things go crazy from there. After pulling the rocket 3 out of the garage last winter it had a light hesitation to start slow cranking, once it fired the electronic gage was back to zero gas false neutral light and the whole 9. The check engine light came on and i was like ... crap... i dont have any dealers within 200 miles of were i live so i just ran it. Everything cleared after 50 miles and its been good ever since.

I have had similar with management light on. The 3 time shuffle worx 4 me. Start her up and let her idle till fan kicks in, then switch off. Let her cool 4 a while then repeat this process another 2 times. When cool after 3rd run, start her up and ride as your management should have reset, and you should be good 2 go. (Happy riding.)
