extended fuel tank question

Sorry Jack, I was just busting balls. I've riding you pretty hard lately. I'll start taking more of it out on the wife, kid and innocent citizens and leave you alone.:D

Jack,
its a combination of things, I want to be able to ride over 300 miles and choose when I stop. I don't have spotty or pitted chrome, I usually wash within 24-36 hours, but often its too late in the evening to accomplish

and yes on my Sprint I often ride 300+ without stopping.... not so on the rocket because I run out of gas first, although I have stretched it over 200 non stop

400+ is when I start calling it a ride. I don't just cruise down the block to the local bar

Phase two of the whole concept is removing the stock tank and running only the smaller tank on a second rocket some day stripped
down that does not carry fuel in the stock tank at all.. so a aux tank in place of the cat box would work.... and be lighter and faster... I migth just take an empty cat box and see what I can make.

Sams pipes not only make more power but make the bike easier to ride, and I bet woudl work wonderful on a touring bike as well
heres a shot of me riding my Sprint in Scotland

and in the good ole US of A

The guy that makes the tanks that fit under the belly of the valk replied:

We have not had the opportunity to look at a Rocket 3. If you have contact with anyone in the Moses Lake, WA area let me know and/or we will try to get to the Triumph dealer to take a look at one.

If you know of anyone in our area at all have them call us at 509-750-1967 and we can converse and/or look at that option.

Peckerwoods is somewhere near Kilgore Texas, it was the stop point for my first Iron Butt, of course I still had to ride the rest of the 900 miles home to Georgia on that trip

Regulater

i once saw a guy on ninja who rides all over the country and I though he had his bike packed. Can you fit any more stuff on that sprint.

well I have a moto duffle bag accross the rear seat ( motopak.com)
I got my tank bag from them as well.

the rear is a renntec rack with a exbandable bag that attaches to it

all the crap bungeed to the top is my camel back, a large bandana and some other junk I took off and strapped down ( moto over pants etc)

I was out in Arizona on work trip for a few months and just took the bike instead of flying out and back...
sprint is an awsome bike

Black Lung in Michigan

I'm just knocking around ideas here...

The Rocket is of course fuel injected and it has a sealed unvented fuel tank with an electric fuel pump contained in tank. The fuel is under pressure as it is delivered to the injectors.
I have (for reasons unknown to me) a California bike here in Michigan, I removed the charcoal canister and plugged the lines. One of which was the fuel tank vent. Plugging the line caused the bike to run poorly and also created a vacuume in the fuel tank, to the point where it starved for fuel.. ???? are the 49 state bikes different the my transplant Cailf. scoot. In the manual it looks like all the bikes utilize the same vent just no coal can..:confused:

Both gas tank vent tube go down in front of the air box and hang off of the bottom of the bike. Same location the coolant overflow line goes.
