dougl, even though you knock about everything I do, I'll throw you a bone and say that I have enough confidence in your abilities that if I were you I wouldn't even look for a spare. If I had your skill alone, I would do the deed and attack the claw with a disc grinder and mould it to the shape you have in your head, exposing the filters to the extent you are comfortable with. You can do it. If I can do it, you can do it. I had the fear I would screw it up so I covered the whole thing in masking tape, drew lines where I wanted to cut, and did it with an air powered grinding disc. I was concerned that the chrome would discolor, it didn't, I was worried that it would be jagged, it was smoothed with a drum sander, I think you can do it just as well if not better.
I waited until I had a spare and now I have exactly what I wanted, along with the defects that promped the original owner of the claw to sell it in the 1st place.
I'm kicking myself because I should have taken the perfect claw I have and cut it the way I thought it should be. Now I have one cut the way I want with scratches from the original owner.

I'd like to see you come up with a better design than I did, so ... keep in mind that the bumps on the claw DO NOT line up with the filters. I based my cuts on the bumps and that was a mistake, I'd love to see what you come up with.
I tilted all my filters 45 degrees afterwards so they would fill the gaps, I think you can do better.
If I had it to do over with what I know now, I'd make the cuts up the middle of the bumps, thus giving the filters a kind of "hiding space" while still exposing them to all the air they could handle. Now that I have the confidence, I'm going to cut the original one ... I'm trying to decide on a final design first.

save your bear claw and add a half claw
Look at thei site by aerolite it wouls look well with thoseouterwear covers which come in different colors.

Sorry if you have that impression. I think your bear claw looks great. I have no interest in moving the coolant tank and I like how you covered it up. Also, I totally suck when it comes to tools, especially power tools. I look forward to you posting pictures of your new cut bear claw.
