Hi, I started thinking my standard exhaust is too quiet. What would you guys recommend that would give me a bit more grunt. Don't want to wake the whole neighborhood though.
Is there any point trying to take out some baffles in the original exhaust?
Thanks

I bought a second set of stock pipes on ebay. I got them for $60 delivered (no one wanted to bid on them because there was no photo). Not a scrath on them but the previous owner had drilled all the way through from the ends of the pipes up to the bend (that's one long drillbit). Anyway I tried them on the bike for the hell of it. You could hardly tell the difference. The reason is probably because you can only fit a 5/8 drill bit into the pipe opening. It's Mickey mousing it anyway.

Also don't waste your time on the Triumph offroad pipes either. My buddy got a set and they don't make much of a difference.

I thought I saw pipes that had multiple baffles in them once. You could adjust the number to your preference.

Good luck.

Mitch, I bought the TORs and cat bypass and found it too loud for me and had a lot of backfiring on the overrun, now I have cat bypass and stock pipes and its good for me, the cat does most of the silencing I think.

As Steve says the cat bypass is a good start , get rids of a hunk of metal , helps a little with the haet , and allows some more noise , that will not upset your neighbours

When I bought my bike it already had the D & D pipes on it. I thought they sounded great until I heard the Jardines yesterday....WOW!! Then I heard a stock bike....no GRUNT to it! The Jar's are probably $1000 more than the D & D's.....ya git what ya pay for!

Cat bypass and stock pipes for me as well.

Sounds about right IMO - definitely louder than standard but not enough to upset the neighbours. I have the bypass that's sold on ebay, on the basis that it was cheaper than the Triumph one - been on nearly 2 years / 10,000 miles and it's fine.

Simonr, did you have any retune done? maybe just 12 minute retune, or fit and run?

Initially just fit and run. My "seat of the pants" dyno suggested a slightly better mid range response. I bought a tune-boy a few months later and have now loaded the specific tune for the cat removal with standard pipes.

Try the preditor pipes travelguy makes, I've had stock, jardines and nothing compares to the sound and performance of these!

Not wishing to hijack the thread....but can you guys tell me if it is necessary to remove the headers to get the cat off? I will be fitting a cat bypass and need to know if I have to get some new crush seals.

Ta!
