What - carry a pig?
hey guys need some opinions.....at some point id like to upgrade the performance on my 05 r3 standard...theres a place in nj...carpenter racing who make a few full exhausts for this bike at 1600.00usd and ecu upgade which I was told they use tuneboy...that's another 6 to 700.00 usd..and an airbox delete..so 2300 for everything roughly....they say from aprox 116 hp at wheel to aropund 165 to 168 at wheel..thats a big jump but for a cost.....how difficult is it to tune it myself and just buy there exhaust and save 700 bucks...any thoughts on thois would be appreciated..or if anyone else has any ideas or know of anyone in the Pennsylvania that are really knowledgable witht the rockets...thanks in advance

See below cut and paste from another thread. You can find similar performance for less from NZ and Aussie makers with a HansO free tune download, Commander IV with or w/o an Auto tune do some searchs and read a lot of threads. Helpfully the forum provides similar related threads posted at the bottom of threads to get you started.

For US you will have to go Carpenter or for International go here:

New Zealand - Viking Exhausts and a forum member @Paul Bryant
Forum thread - Paul Bryant Headers!

Australian - CES Home-Custom Exhaust Specialists-CES
Forum thread - CES ****
or Reband Reband <br />Motorcycle Exhaust & Classic Bike SpecialistS

Mate, a valiant effort to help but how do you know any of this is what he's after. In fact, it's exactly what he says he doesn't want to do - spend any money. What model Rocket does he have? What vintage? How many pipes? By that I also mean does he still have a cat box or are they in the pipes? What other mods to the bike? What does he mean by "grunt? More top end, more bottom end or mid range? Make it sound more like a "hog"?
Until the OP can be bothered typing more than 11 words I certainly can't be bothered trying to read his mind.

Agree re OP post#1, hence the "carry a pig" quip, but I provided info for post#4 by a cashed up @rocket3rider to promote some antepodean goodness. I should have replied with quotes but they do clog up a thread.
