engine missing!!

Not to be a know it all, cause I surely ain't,
but I called Gus when I could wiggle the wires on my TPS and the idle would go back down to 800 RPM's and the light would go back off.
Gus told me the TPS at the back of the fuel rail, the one closest to the seat was the primary, and he'd never seen a secondary go out.
He also said the triumph mechanics had to put it on so they could set the voltage, as there's only about .005 volt difference in the key off and the key on, but that .005 was important to it running right.
It's scheduled for next Saturday at 0900.

thanks to all! actually have another ? I would like to reinstall my secondary butterflies! thing is I trashed the screws removing them! my dealer says there is no part number to order them! just the butterflies! Im sure they are metric, I want to make sure I get the right grade strength etc... and probably apply a drop of blue or red loctite? anyone know the size? and where to buy?

BTR63- If you have Tuneboy and have installed one of the tunes that keeps the secondaries open 100% then they won't move other than on start up.

Don't be so hard on the fool.

He is going to go down in history (just like Carter) as being the reason this country gets back on the right track. Carter made it possible to get a guy like Reagan in the White House. So Obama will make way for the next guy that can do the same thing.
At least that's what's in my prayers EVERY night.

the tune is one you gave me brian! I understand about the tune boy 100% open! but the dealer claims my removing the secondary butterflies contributed to the TPS breaking! rod kept over turning! remember I had the CEL on constantly! So I am going to put them back in! should not make much difference?

I am sure there is well over 100 Rockets on this forum that have the secondaries removed. It was one of the first mods ever done on these bike way before tuneboy was released for the Rocket.

Your dealer is blowing smoke. Your primary TPS needs to be replaced. Have you reset the primary TPS in Tuneboy? Or at least checked the voltage on the sensors screen? Regarding the CEL, did you turn off the O2 sensor remove it and add the PCIII bypass?

Did you try my suggestion in this thread?

yeah Brian I did uncheck the 02! and plugged in the small white plug ordered from DJ, the secondary rod does not move at all! from start up to shut down! it wiggles a bit but does not move! I think its broken! the black plastic piece it goes into (TPS) must be cracked inside! looks to be all plastic! dealer has been good to me! and he is pretty close! about 6 miles.

Continuation down the road to ruin will follow Obama unless restoration of The Constitution is to follow. Make no mistake about it! It's no a **** living document!!! You make rules and you live by them, period.

At 4500 RPM the secondaries should be fully open at cruise. If your secondary sensor were failing I seriously doubt it would be intermittent nor minor.

I've had a piss poor primary sensor since day one. As per TuneBoy Diagnostics it has been near to 7 v more often than not. I have inched it down to 6.6 but no lower. I believe the correct notation is 0.060 volt plus or minus .002; that means I've seen 0.066, on occasion. Perhaps a new one should be acquired. But it hasn't totally failed thus far.

As with the cat box eliminator, a properly functioning primary TPS might be a rude awakening for me. baby! where have you been all my life:D

I tell ya: It is so discouraging when told certified Triumph mechanics will be working on your bike and it turns out you have high doubts, after the results.

I'm strongly in favor of the Harley Davidson business model. They have concentrated and built a loyal base that will live in infamy.

Triumph is sold amongst an untold average of other makes and models. How can a very small handful of techs be proficient in all that is sold; more, than a committed Harley mechanic or rider.

A sure sign for avoidance, is a supposed mechanic that doesn't hear the difference between a valve tappet tapping and a timing chain beer can rattle.
