Emergency trip to the dark side

The shop didn't have any suitable tyres, car or bike. I decided that, if I was going to have to order a tyre in and wait a week to have it fitted, I may as well order a bike tyre in. So, I have gone with an exedra max this time.
If I don't get significantly more K's out of it than I did the metzeler, then next stop is dark side...

Thanks for the advice, everyone :)

:( Maybe next time.

Very wise @Stepnerd . You should get 50-100% more out of the Exedra Max, better handling and comfort and improved fuel economy (taking into account the effect of the higher profile ie. it may not be evident from odometer miles but will be from actual distance covered).

You can fit 205/55, 215/55, (215/60?), 225/55, 225/50, 235/50, and 245/50. 225/55-16 is my recommendation. Go for as high a performance tyre as you can find.
I am still running Exedra 240/55 but if the narrower Touring tires are reported to provide better handling and change of direction etc and sidewall flex is used with darkside to compensate for lack of rounded profile why would you not use a 180/70/16R etc.?

I imagine that it would be difficult to get a high performance tyre in anything with a profile over 55. Add that to the fact that anything under a 205 is too narrow for the rim, with even the 205 being the bare minimum size for the rim.

There are one or two High performance WINTER tyres that have higher sidewall profiles.

I went dark before the E-max was available and have just fitted an E-max. Was sad to see the Goodyear go but it was getting bald at the edges. The E-Max fouled the Thugs exhausts so I applied some GBH courtesy of a Guzzi fork tube.
I loosened summat in the THUGS; they spat out a perforated disc. They are now louder. :whitstling:. Need to look at replacements for the Front tyre now - The Azaro is coming to EOL. Another Darkside Front I think. but finding one that fits a 3.5" rim properly is proving a bit of a trial.
