Eastern Beaver Wiring Help???

R3T Relay Kit

I just installed the E.B. kit on my Touring last night. I installed it to alleviate the ignition switch failure. I've got to say it extended the beam reach about forty to fifty feet on low beam and maybe a little more on high beam. The kit I ordered was the one for the fairing H4 with the auxiliary lead on it. It also has a bullet plug and a 15A fuse so you can easily disconnect the headlight for OBDII Tune ECU connection. It was about sixty eight dollars delivered. Marty

P.S. It took about an hour to install and I,m very happy with the overall quality of the harness.

I have the EB full monte with the bar mount switch.
My switch works only in low beam and will not turn off lights if they are in high beam.

Is this the way its supposed to be? Can this be made to work on both beams?

Back to the original question:
Per the way that EB designed the kit, that is indeed a limitation of how the switch is wired in the kit;
that is because the the switch interrupts only the control signal that goes to the low beam relay coil positive; there is no interrupt on the high beam relay coil signal;
ironically it would have been just as easy to configure it to have had the switch interrupt the common ground to both hi & low relay coil negatives - then it would cut regardless of which position the hi/lo was in. And uses no more wires!
That is how I would have designed it!

Actually I have my own design which is plug n play with the OEM connectors behind the steering head - I shared that design here for those who like to DIY - http://www.r3owners.net/threads/home-made-eb-headlight-relay-harness.19364/page-2#post-274265

I also have a design to augment that which keeps the lights off when ignition first turned on* and then come on automatically after start (you cannot turn off again without killing ignition however) It requires no switch to be mounted at all.
I'll share that mod in a new thread soon

* Note the OEM headlight cut has headlights come on immediately with ignition but cuts them off while starting is running to augment starting ability

Got my EB kit the other week for my R3T, really impressive quality work. It's going on at the same time as the new LED headlight reflector (I haven't got yet) goes on.

Also, as for the original question, now going on two years old... It says in the very name of the harness it's a "lo-cut". Not a "hi-cut". Presumably the manufacturer expects people to (sanely) keep their bikes on low when at standstill or in daylight traffic and only use high beam on the open road, the way the law says you should do things.

if i run the high beam my wife complains that i
, blinding her and she don't want to ride ahead of me anymore.

Good for your wife... I really get ticked off at people riding with high beams on. Contrary to the popular delusion in bike circles - yes, your high beam really does blind people you pass even in the daytime, and yes you are a huge douche if you do that. Plus that you're not increasing your personal security, you're making people look away from you to shield their eyes from the glare. I for one want my fellow motorists to keep an eye on my position...
