I would like to convert to dry pleated paper triple air filters. Does anyone know what can be used. I would also consider some type of good looking large single dry pleated filter in a ram air set up. What is available for either of these ideas ?

True about getting wet. I was thinking of something that would protect the filter or filters and still allow them to breath better than the under seat filter.

You cannot have your cake and eat it too.... If you want paper filters; you're going to have to bury them in a protective intake.

Why do you have this hunger for paper filters?

Because of a long standing beleif the K&N style oiled filters do not filter out small particals as well as dry pleated paper. They wor OK for a short time and then loose the to much to be effective. Also the oil can soak parts you don't want to get oil coated.

I tend to agree about the K&Ns ,they were originally designed for the motocross crowd. They rebuild their 2 strokes once or twice a season and have time between races to clean filters.
On 4wds they are shown to be one of the worst performers with paper filters offering the best performace and filtration.

I use Unifilters and theyre really messy buggers, but i hear they breathe better than K&N's. You might as well leave the bike with the stock air cleaning system then ,if you want paper only.
