On this coming trip i am kinda worried about the beast, the filters are wide open and if i encouter heavy rain i may be in trouble.
According to Carpenter, a little water will not hurt anything and he sent the bike back to Bud without any filters at all.
What are your thoughts on this matter?

I have the exact same filters on my roadster. I often ride in the rain and I've found that not a drop gets into the throttle bodies because I check after the ride. As long as the filters are nice and oiled I would not be worried.

Like the gents above have stated, there are prefilters that you can get for them. I would have no idea where to get them though.
