since i bought my 06 standard used i really dont know what all has been put on it by the previous owner that is not evident.i have noticed that my headlight cuts off while im starting bike and wondered if their was an easy way to tell if i already had a eastern beaver kit with the headlight cut out before i ordered one.
the previous owner did tell me the ignition switch was replaced by the dealer,so now im wondering.

I am sure my Roaster 2011, model, does the same thing, even though the head lights come on when you turn on the ignition the head light goes out while the starter is engaged.
I think the the same with the EB kit unless you buy the kit including the switch that turns the head light completely off, if so you will have an additional switch mounted some place.
If an EB kit has been fitted than there will be two extra relays in the headlights.

my relays for eb are under the tank with a direct feed from the battery.if your position lights, small bulbs are working, then you probably dont have eb,unless someone has wired separately ,and yes the lights still turn off when cranking with eb,hope this helps

I installed the EB kit with the cut out switch on my 2006 R3 and kept the orange parking lights
to be sure if you have the relay kit from EB you should see the headlight wiring bypassing the ignition barrel then traced back to the battery or PC8 board from EB if installed
your headlight would have from OEM an automatic cut out from factory for start so it is not a way to tell and dealers would not have installed an EB kit as a matter of repair .

The 20 amp fuse in the fuse block serves both the headlights and the starter. Downstream is a relay that in normal mode routes power to the headlights. When you hit the starter switch, the relay switches the power over to the starter motor which of course makes the headlights go out. When you release the starter switch the relay reverts back to normal mode and lights up the headlights.

A quick way to check if you MIGHT have the EB kit is to remove the seat and look to see if you have any additional power leads connected directly to the battery. If you don't then you will not have the kit since it either connects directly to the battery or to an aux fuse block like the PC-8 which must connect directly to the battery.

If you do have additional leads then further investigation is necessary. Remove the right side steering head cover and look to see if the relays are tucked up just inside the frame. If still unsure then you will need to raise the tank and look for the relays.

All correct and good advice but I wonder if you're (Vulcan) not aware that it's normal on all Rockets for the headlights to cut out while pushing the starter button. It doesn't mean you have light relays fitted so you will need to check. There is an EB kit that enables you to switch the headlight off altogether and there's another switch you can buy that leaves your lights off until you flick the hi beam switch - in other words, the lights don't come on at all unless you operate the switch. Apologies if I've misunderstood your question.

My 05 Eb Kit...twin H/L
I installed my EB relay kit, it uses a main battery supply cable to the relays if you where to check the Battery post you would see an additional cable running outside the harness to the Headlamp or relay(s)
If you where to disconnect this cable it would eliminate H/L operation.

ok, i checked battery and headlight shell and found i dont have an eb kit installed,...thanks to all .
i didnt know what to look for in checking,so thanks again
