Dismantling the Rocket for painting - Work in Progress

I could have sworn I saw a furnace vent in your garage under a bench...

Thanks Juggs, thats the seam I'm talking about.

I'll ask the painter about it. I haven't done body work for years (about 16 years), but I think that kind of a seam might do well being filled in with lead to bring it up flush.

It's definitely not something I'm going to attempt myself. I'll have the conversation and report back when I know more.

It is a good idea. I don't know what they were thinking leaving it exposed like that.

Were you able to get the front fender off without scratching it? I want to remove mine to install the mud guard extender. Since I won't be painting it, I don't want any chance of a scratch. I could always remove the front tire.

Hey Gasket: The fender was very easy to take off. However, I did have to slide it out backwards, toward the rear of the bike, and then tilt it to slide it out. No scratches. Just be gingerly with it and it it slides out quite easy.

I certainly wouldn't remove the front tire just to get the fender off. Maybe throw a towel over it if you are worried. Then just slide her back toward the engine and out on the RH side (at least, that's what I did).

Thanks. He'll probably know much better than I do. To be honest, I've never really noticed the seam, but now that it's pointed out, it is probably going to bother me. Anyway, if its just a couple of hours work, I'll pay him to do it. Otherwise, I might just skip it.

To be continued ...

Thanks much. My wife and I just went to Lowe's where I bought a 30k BTU propane heater like yours for $79. My wife is ordering a new kitchen so I got a bit of the short end on this one. If this heater can warm up your garage it should take care of heating my new shop. The lower level will be about the same square footage.

I keep looking at the picture of your dark side tire. I am really tempted, especially after seeing N1's

Mike, don't do it. Come on over to one of my stores, you won't be sorry. Don't buy that big box LG/Whirlpool/Maytag crap. We carry 60 different brands including the ones you'll find there at Lowes & Hell Depot...

Pick a location Lynnwood, Seattle, Tukwila or wait a few weeks for Bellevue and I'll hook you up with the right sales person.

Me too, even more so now that I know I have access to that tire changer.
