Din plug tip

I thought I'd share this tip with you all, seeing as how it works. I've had instances of a DIN plug not connecting securely. Sometimes it's ok & others it's not. When riding the power supply cable from the Aux connector by the bars always seems to work loose & not stay connected.
Solution:
I have found putting an O ring on the plug & rolling it carefully up & under the copper connectors to where they stick out to make contact with the sides works great. What this does is gives the copper connectors something to push against & hold firm in the AUX connector. Too thin an O ring won't achieve what you're trying to do & too thick won't allow the plug to be inserted, use an O ring that just makes it a firm push & you'll have no more issues of the 2 not staying connected.
I've had this solution on the bike for a while now & it's proven (to me anyway) hence the post.

Thanks for the tip. I've used the aux din outlet for my battery tender until the connection became unreliable and threw all sorts of codes. Almost bought a new battery and tender till I discovered the culprit.

Good tip. My adapter has a cap on it so I put my adapters cap inline with the DIN cap and they hold eachother tight.

So I tried the O ring trick and it seems to work very well, thanks for the suggestion. I had to use a small pick to pry up the copper prongs. I'll post a picture of the O ring I used.

I solved mine partially by bending the radial contacts on the plug outward, but mainly by bending the socket's contacts for the axial portion inward. But I like the O-ring idea, which feels like a more permanent solution for the radial part.

Yes I used an O ring pick to lift the copper tabs just as you've done. Your pic shows it perfectly. Good on ya!!

I tried the bending part before the O ring. Bending worked for a while, but copper being copper it soon went back to intermittent contact. I was concerned the repeated bending of the copper raised sections would cause one or more of them to break if I kept doing it.

Its almost like its made to hold a O ring with the way its shaped.

Man this is so timely because those sockets are just a bad design. I just fixed my left side outlet (again) because if one does not insert that plug perfectly lined up it pushes the 2 tabs together. Been having trouble with my heated gear so I just pulled out that socket again but connection is solid.
Maybe that o-ring will give it better contact.
I might start looking at alternatives but then all my plugs won't work.
