Did I hit the rev limiter?

2008 Trimuph Rocket
A vrod muscle threw out a challenge at the traffic lights yesterday and as I wound out in 2nd it seemed to hit a rev limiter.I changed into 3rd and i was off like a ,well... like a rocket.
So what what was it? It felt like the engine was being turned on/off.

Ive got the speed limiter set at 300klms,I watched the mechanic do it with tuneboy

It could have been around 70mph,probably a bit less.I wouldnt normally do that because all the torque has gone,but I was watching a 3rd bike in close proximity,so I backed off and then throttled back on rather than going into 3rd.

I did not disgrace the rocket owners. I got off to a bad start due to a 3rd bike being in my way and misjudgeing the rpms in 2nd,but once in 3rd I passed him .If he was standing still ,I would have been walking past if that makes sense
 
we'll have to think up a new type of facepalm for when harley people think they can match or beat a rocket

I give them a good head start so they think they got me. this is especially fun with the sport bikes. once they get over confident I pull up quickly along side them smile and smack the throttle. Warp Speed Captian, God I love this bike

I thought a vrod muscle would have put up a better fight. Maybe he wasnt flat out but he wasnt slowing down either
