Darkside on a touring? What size!

Checked with insurers over here in UK and they would definitely NOT pay out if you fitted a car tyre to a bike. I would assume that would be the case as these companies will look for any reasson not to pay up

Remind him of the Magnuson Act and go about your way. He is just trying to set you up for an easy denial.

I went dark side on a Honda VTX, and loved it. Put a dark side on my R3T, and hate it. Violent head shakes at 88mph. Gonna go Avon.
I went darkside on a vtx and my r3 standard and loved both. I firmly believe you have another issue such as tire balance, bearings or many other possible issues. The ds tire causing head shakes is like saying the turn signal caused a tipover at a stop sign, just my 2cw.

I believe you're referring to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (the Magnuson Act is something about Chinese immigrants). The Magnuson-Moss Act is about warranty claims on consumer products. As far as I know it has nothing to do with insurance companies.

The one similarity to the Magnuson-Moss Act is how you would fight a decision against you. In the case of a warranty denial, you can argue your case, but how many of us can afford the time and legal fees to do so. Same with insurance denial, you can fight it but time and money are on their side.

I doubt there is anything definitive in most policies that either explicitly prohibits or allows the use of car tires. Thus it would likely be left to the discretion of the claims adjuster. Most probably wouldn't notice, but if they did, and for some reason chose to deny your claim, you will probably have a tough time getting that decision reversed.

I had a crash with a darkside. It didn't make any difference with Allstate.
