I had my tank of off the bike today(do not ask why) anyhoo reinstalled it and tried using the same two crush washers on the fuel line, I have used the sump ones twice before when changing my oil but the fuel ones would not seal:mad: have to run down to a local motorbike shop tomorrow and pick up a couple of new ones, do any hardware stores sell crush washers???. The gas was really pouring out I guess that is what happens when it is under pressure:mad:

Been there...done that

There are those who will suggest you do things like use sandpaper or a file to flatten out the aluminum crush washers you are referring too.

Don't do that...replace them just like the shop manual says. You do not want to have the slightest fuel leak between your legs unless you are trying to do your best imitation of Richard Pryor free-basing drugs.

You will most likely have to get the aforementioned aluminum crush washers from the Triumph dealer to seal up the Banjo fitting to be absolutely sure you have no fuel seeping.

Make sure you follow the torque setting on that bolt as outlined in the Service manual.

Good Luck....SB.

I agree with you SB I definitely do not want to do any JP imitations:D Do you know what the torque setting is?
I have used the crush washers when changing my oil more than once with no leaks but this fuel line was just spraying out:eek:

Considering the rising price of gasoline and the fuel mileage of a Rocket 3. Any leak would severly shorten your range appreciably not to mention being a candidate for a human torch.......

I do the flat bastard file routine on the sump washers even though cheap replacements can be had at just about any auto parts store. You might find the aluminum banjo washers there ae well. Soft copper would also work.

Dave, I'd ride out and bring you some...but I'm kind of busy at the moment.

Daryl, Dave is terrible on directions, I don't think he could find my house again as it was raining when he last visited there on our "rain ride" to Nichols in Milton by way of Century and Jay.

I'm not worried.

No problem there Dennis, I'll just hook up my streets and trips on my lappy and find it.:D Now how to protect lappy in the rain:confused:.
