Poor Warp.....He seems to have photos of every common broken part. Handy guy to have around but he must have a stack of parts receipts for all the things he has had to replace. HP is not cheap!
I do acquire parts with out breaking stuff Like the 05 I am building needed a new engine. So I bought it for a parts bike not knowing a few month later I would find a 06 complete updated engine for it :) although I do break stuff :) Clutch stuff to be precise :D Pistons on occasion head gaskets. Well you right horse power cost money. Stupid horse power cost even more !!!!!!!!!
Alas I am pretty broke after 9 years of Rocketry :)
Still it fun except for the bone breaking on the pavement I could definitely have lived without that.

Update-**** piece was in there tight...tried the cloth, prying but could not get it to move. Ended up putting a tow strap around it and giving it some hard pulls. Took some tie but little by little got it loose. The front case was my concern not buggering that up and ended well....another question...the gasket (Paper) looks like it possibly had a sealant or at least some kind of adhesive but might have been nothing more than heat/paper that fused to the case. Replaced a ton of gaskets over the years and never used anything on them. Assume the same here but wanted to play devils advocate as this is a pain in nuts job for something as simple as a pin to replace.

Also-as I dumped the coolant and I see form other posts folks are using Zerex G-05 as replace. Opinions?

You can go with just the gasket maybe a light coat of oil to help it stick in place. I use Hylamar (kind of like Permatex) on mine so if I open her up I can re-use the gasket a couple times before changing it out.
As for Coolant I never heard of that brand but it does not mean its good. I use Engine ICE in mine.

So what was broke the lifter shaft or the lifter piece? My bet is the shaft :)

Hi Warp...yep just as you thought. Shaft was broke in the exact place you pictured earlier. I will look into engine ICE also. Thanks for the feedback.

When you put it back together put a little grease on the head of the lifter piece and in the pocket so it has lubrication until oil gets pumped all over. Since you not taking the clutch apart this will not take long at all. Remember to wind the shaft one turn so the spring has some tension on it before you put the cover up and scoop up the lifter piece head to much wind and it the spring will grab the lifter shaft which could end up trying to twist it in half again.

HI Warp....ok, this is not something I was aware of....so let me see if I have this correct.
1) Grease lifthead and pocket..check
2) Insert new part
3) Set spring and turn shaft (clockwise I am guessing) Bike not in front of me and parts on order. How do you hold the tension on the spring? Maybe put the external armature on the gear end and hold it in place while setting the front cover?

The tension on the spring is not much. you can have the crank arm on the lifter shaft spline in the marked location then just wind one turn and hold it while you finish getting the cover in place. It really easy as you do not have to wind it until the cover is about a half inch from the the engine block. Once you wind it one turn you just scoop up the lifter piece as the cover goes on. If you do not catch the lifter piece it will not go on. Also by going on I mean by hand no force is needed.
