They are beautiful .
But there is a reason they don't come that way. The chroming process can make many metals brittle. That's why you rarely see show chrome on structural items.
I'm not saying to throw them away , just be diligent and inspect regularly for cracking.
When structural items are chromed such as the piston (chrome sliding tube) on the fork. It is stress relieved , and no I don't know what that process is.
By the way this isn't just some urban legend it's taught in Aircraft Mechanics school.
