Hmmm I don't have yellowing on my r3t but the Intruder and Sportster sure can get that way. Blue Job works but needs elbow grease. Maybe some pledge will be easier.

I do like 1OLBULL does and just drain the tank and both sumps and change the filter, then add six quarts and ride it. A dry sump system does not care if the oil is up to the top line on the stick or not, it just requires it to be between the lines and all will be fine. These bikes are easy to do an oil change on without any mess. I like the oil filter being right out front and easy to get on and off and the drain pan fits easily under the filter and the drain plugs.

Dave, you be not only astute, but also erudite! :D

I was told that anyone sits astraddle a V-8 IS a sociopath!
Before you retort, the guy told me was Ted Bundy.
Wilson High School, Tacoma, WA class of 1965.

Who would argue with Ted? I was told by my prison psychiatrist that I was a sociopath, that was in 1966 and I was in a federal prison for not paying taxes on pot I had smuggled from Mexico. I asked him what was a sociopath and he said it was somebody that didn't feel guilt about anything they did. I told him that I didn't feel guilt because if I did I wouldn't do it. I think he thought I should feel guilt about smuggling the pot. I told them that honestly the only thing that bothered me was getting caught and I was real happy about not feeling any guilt. I suggested to him that he should not do things he feels guilty about so that he could be a sociopath too.

OK!
You be NO sociopath!
Amazing the stupid pot laws then versus now.
I remember folks getting pinched for seeds found on their floorboards!
What crap that was! (both the pot and the laws)

You are right, even seeds back then. Mexico was even worse. I was in San Blas, Mexico in 1970, on my way to South America and they found a roach in the car, they didn't like americans. I went to jail, dirt floors, no food unless you bought it, luckily it was corrupt and I bribed my way out but not until they got **** ready to let me.

Doing it the exact way the service manual states leaves the reading on the dip stick inconsistent. Without having to explain how I found this out the hard way I resort to the below method.

So after the bike has reached operating temperature, bike running, sitting on the bike held up in riding position, with flashlight in hand, pull oil cap (don't worry oil isn't going to shoot all over the place), and examine level. As long as the oil is touching the baffle lip the oil level is correct.
