I bought my R3T last year and I love it but my one and only complaint is that I am somewhat on my toes when I stop. This is especially a problem when there is sand on the ground and I don't get a good footing. I figure getting a new seat is easiest fix, anybody have any ideas or experience with this? Lowering the suspension seems costly and I don't want to have to worry about going over every bump.

YOu may be happy doing that but it may not work ,, I took my rocket tourer and had the seat reshaped , he actually commented that it was a very good seat and he could shave a lot off without reducing comfort , ,, anyway it did'nt work it turned out it was'nt the seat that was the problem but the width of the bikes ... Ikon shocks 32mm lower solved the problem for me , was the difference between keeping the bike and getting rid of it

With saying that i sat on a rocket standard and found that was alright standard

Interesting, I might have to lower it then. How does one go about getting the right measurements and choosing a shock?

The standard length is 12.5" you can go an inch lower than stock without any fuss. Lower than that and you'll run out of swingarm travel (abruptly). Note going shorter will cause your turning radius to increase and your cornering at speed a smidge more effort. Other than that, enjoy.

on stb rocket touring she got a solo seat and got her the 11.5 progressive shocks and now she is flat footed when she sats on it also she has a c/t on the rear

I definitely can't go with the solo seat or my girlfriend will kick my a$$. The progressive 11.5's sound like the way to go. I guess I just have to suck it up and dump some money into it! I won't need to do anything to the fork will I? And are these something I can bolt on myself or should I bring it to the shop?

check out http://www.sargentcycle.com/csfoam.htm

they can do it for you if your not comfortable, but you can also remove the seat, remove the vinyl cover and use a electric carving knife to shave the sides down, and maybe lower it some... then you staple the cover back on... most auto upholstery shops will do it for not too much money

Ive been wanting to recover mine for a while, just haven't gotten around to it.. I loved the Sargent seat I had on my Sprint. best seat Ive ever had.

u can have the shocks changed in bout 15 minutes nothing needs to be done with the forks

not too hard to lower the forks if you wanted even more... just got to make sure you don't go to far and the fender bangs the radiator...
