Carpenter racing

...Just another thought. You can give your Touring more go than a Roadster and frankly more go than you 'need' by spending a whole less than the Carpenter upgrade. Pipes, intake and tuning will give you 150+ hp and 160+ torque and a very rideable bike for $1-$2 grand.

TuneBoy or a PC5 + Carpenter's Brute exhaust and dynotune = about 170 horsepower and 170 ft. lb. of torque for around a couple grand.

Carpenter makes the 210 kit which I think is better suited for the touring model. But why not just fix the detent spring? I know you were getting hosed by the dealer but I bet you can get lots of help here if you decide to do it. The only thing is little bits that may or my not have falling in the sump. But even then its just pulling the bolts and dropping it......kids stuff! :D (j/k)

I realize you dont wrench on your bike but hey it can be fun and we can talk you thru it! Also TrumphPhil had a point (and others) when it comes to spending the cash.......

If it was my scoot, I would replace detent spring and consider upgrades afterwards.
Good luck..keep us posted :D

I just had my brand new no miles tourer done with the Carpenter upgrade; I'm just now getting to know her. I freakin' love it. If you love speed, do it, if it's not THAT big a deal, just soup up yours some and fix the detent. You can pull a fair bit of power without Carpenter but holy hell having a decent rpm range is nice.

Call your dealer and ask the Q about service. I'm sure my warrantee is gone for the motor but I expected that. My dealer loves it; they just asked me last week if they can feature my bike in a promo for their dealership.

The real reason they've got a larger rear tire on the Roadster is looks. The tourer tire handles better and puts down power just fine. Everyone's gaga for the fat tire look; I've got it on my Vmax too, and honestly the narrower tire handles a lot better on corners.

The megaphone exhaust from Carpenter sounds really deep and really loud. I put a baffle in mine for normal riding already; I like it. I still set off an alarm this morning by starting the bike next to a truck. My biggest concern with the megaphone is that it isn't meant for bags....looks like it might melt the stock bag or burn it; I need to either extend it back some or heatshield the bag.
Any of ya'll running the Carpenter megaphone with a stock Tourer's bags with no effects? I'm not sure if I need to be concerned but it doesn't look good.

Hello All! :D
As some of you know I am currently looking to trade my 08 Touring in for new Roadster.
Well last night I think I had my very first Epiphany....:p

Instead of buying a new bike why not just ship my touring cross country and have Carpenter put in the 240 h.p kit?

I am going to call Carpenter tomorrow but first I have some questions that I hope can be answered here...

1) I have read somewhere that the reason the R3's (Roadsters, standards, and classics) have the larger rear tire is to handle the extra H.P that the tourings do not have, If this is true, will my Tourings smaller rear tire and drive train handle the extra H.P?

2)Will the Triumph dealers still perform any future services? (probably a dumb question)

3)Do these Mods from Carpenter affect the Reliability of the bike? either positively or negatively?

4)Currently my detent spring on my Tranny needs repair, is replacing this spring part of Carpenters upgrade? (That would save me some money)

5)Has anyone heard Carpenters Megaphone exhaust? how does it sound?
Here is the cost break down the way I see it...

240+ H.P package $6200.00
Exhaust $1500.00
Shipping (door to door) $1500.00

Thats $9200.00 round it up to $10,000 and thats a savings of about $7000.00 over a new Rocket.

I havent decided to do this I'm just weighing my options, what do you guys think?

All opinions, comments are welcome! ;)

Thanks Fellas

They did do a stock touring with just the pipe and tune and came out with 165 hp and somewhere around 163 or so in torque. He is running the open megaphone and I have not heard nothing yet of heat on the bags. But installing a stick on heat shiel you can buy at the auto parts/hotrod store would give piece of mind. Its a hard choice I would discuss the options with Art you can catch him on the .com site or get his numbers from Phil or PM me and I will give you his numbers.

The engine and final drive are the same as the roadster and standard. The transmission should have the upgrades in a 2008 model. There is also a 210 H.P. mod for $4400 W/O the hi comp. pistons. Just my $.02 Marty.:)

The Roadster has an upgraded clutch and shaft drive to coupe with the big increase in torque.
