Alternate Reality Pipes

Phil, I'm now convinced you occupy an alternate reality. These pipes are beyond loud. Twenty people who converged on Fastermotorsports will readily
attest to the stupendous skull cracking, soul shattering sound of these demonic pipes!!!!! My VTX Hardchrome Sideburners, loud by ANY standard, aren't even in the same league as this Howitzer! Bart, my long time mechanic buddy, as deeply versed in all things motorcycle as anyone on the planet, was literally blown away by the stupendous roar of this unit! Likewise everyone else on site! These puppies are LOUD...LOUD!!!!!!!!!! Baffle(s) badly needed! No way is this bike now legal for the streets of Denver...or probably any other city! Cops will converge on it like Goobers on Sarah Palin's panties! Flies on ka ka! Illegals on food stamps! You get the message. Art's pipes are obviously modified...or you're both stone deaf!

Beautiful design...a little weird with the springs...but super clean welding, as Warp9 points out. Sexy as hell! Probably uptick the ponies better than any other current design (not yet dynoed...must have baffle{s} first or we'll all be deaf...as you and Art may be). But man, Phil, these babies are way beyond any sound I've ever heard originating from a motorcycle. Period. End of story.

I remember, there were what we called "snuffers" that we put at the very end of the reverse cone megaphones. They were nothing more than washers a tad smallther than the exit hole of the pine. They were mounted on a stem that pierced the pipe and we could turn them to open or "snuff" Worked well.

Ehhh??? What??? I can't hear ya', drac.

Regardless of the dB level, I hope that you'll enjoy the new setup.

I'm anxious to get some feedback from Scott or yourself regarding what, if any, effect the baffles will have on your performance. In all likelihood, I will install Carpenter's baffle on my set, too, as I want to keep the folks in our local cemeteries fast asleep in the ground.

Actually, my friend, I really like these suckers! Yes...I think I mentioned they are a might bold in the dB department...but they look seriously tricked out on the old girl, gotta admit. With the nitrous mods we're changing now it will look **** wicked Some kinda custom seat next, then Ohlins or Penske rear suspension. Probably take a break from her then and catch up with some overdue mods on my truck...and my bathrooms... over the summer I'll catch up witcha in the Fall with that 210 package like you're getting soon right? I think with my NOS, pipes and the 210 we should turn the dyno right smartly!

All BS aside, Carpenter is THE way to go with the R3. Great outfit, serious performance engineering with sportbikes and the Silverback R3's. If I ever get a BUSA these are the dudes I'll have boost it!!!!

I do like the look of this system Drac .
Did u get the standard ,polished stainless or chrome plated ? . What sort of heat are those headers radiating on the right leg mate or is it all sweet ? Im considering investing in a set for a future project probably go with the chrome plated i think

G'day mate! I'll be picking up some custom heat shields from Cobra and HD. The pipes will require wrap or shields as they will radiate/conduct considerable heat to your gam dude. Had enough pipe burns myself friend. After extensive conversations with Eric Carpenter and Art/Imfastoo it seems the CHROME pipes are most vulnerable to bluing. The polished stainless (my choice) I'm told yellow but not as prone to deep bluing...hence my selection. They are $200 clams cheaper too.

I like the compact look of this array. Welds are candy-sweet! Loud as God goosed by Satan but hell, I'm half deaf already and most of what I hear these days is BS anyway. I won't miss the noise...

Cheers for the info Drac much appreciated

Record Setting Snow Storm...
...battering Denver and the front range today. Metro area is smothered in the white stuff. 18+" in town and up to 3'+ in the front range towns!!!!! Biggest February storm in recorded history so far and we still have ~12hours to go! ****! I'm off today so it's all good; coffee, oatmeal, steak and whiskey for meself Lot's of shoveling with my two strong sons. No need for barbells today! Gotta get mama to work later though...RN's supervising locked psych units don't have the luxury of "snow days", alas

Maybe that post of yours above explains the otic overload or aural oversensitivity you are experiencing, dracul. Since you have clearly been confined to your garage, it's no wonder that you have been overwhelmed by that mighty exhaust trumpet. Try twisting the wick outdoors! It ain't really that loud. However, for any who wish to be marginally stealthy or for those who are not looking to scare ore insult women, young children or their own neighbors, baffles may be a well-applied option!

BTW, I believe that heat shields are a standard now coming with the exhaust from Carpenter. If not, all you have to do is ask for them. They are necessary if'n you don't want to inadvertently singe your trousers!
