HD: bling and booty!

When shopping for the heat shielding at Sun HD I was impressed with the machine-like efficiency and momentum at the distributorship. Like a well oiled and well cared for vintage carriage company. Very upscale. Lots and lots of bling. Pretty girls in tight jeans selling stuff. Nice. Very pretty new bikes as well. Harley's ARE beautiful motorcycles, regardless of their performance inadequacies. The V-Rod Muscle really looks cool! Might take another look at one of these further down the road. Gotta give it up to HD on appeal: they have it in spades! Fit and finish near impeccable...**** near wanted to take a BITE outta one:D

Unrelated but concurrently in mind while at SUN HD:

My youngest son is wrestling now and although a wet rookie, he shows some promise. He has the heart of a lion, the soul of a gladiator. My fine warrior son. Needs to perfect his skills and hone his killer instincts; focus that aggression and power. Does my old heart proud to see him out there overpowering opposition. May his life be rich and successful in all his ventures. May his grit and pit bull tenacity see him through inevitable adversity. How I love this young man! Which cool bike to which excellent son??? Both so different and yet similar in fundamental ways. I adore them both boundlessly!

Checked in wit' ma' man Tone Capone at Most Wanted when exiting SUN in my F-150: got FOUR top bred females to select from for my House of Dracul Bullies. So fine. Tomorrow I'll pick one of these beautiful fems for my Untouchable Empire multiple champion derivative, purple ribbon, pure bred Bully line. Beowulf is about to be exponentially happier!:D

Finally:

Just grilled up some delicious pepper steak for mama, our eldest genius-son and my old self. The Young Turk is out in da world chillin' wit' his lil' hottie gal-pal (maybe more than chilin')! Got my acid jazz and ambient-chill music cranked up to rock my still savage soul. Dis ole' boy still got some moves, baby! My recipe for the juicy steak, by the way. MMMMMMM!!! I LOVE to cook because I love to EAT! **** delicious! A very guilty pleasure indulged in with intrepid abandon! Mea culpa! Life is good:cool:

Glad to hear that you had a "happy ending" with your Carpenter exhaust, drac. I wonder if that did anything to alleviate the bluing???:D

It's usually best not to mess with success, if you know what I mean.;)

Tyranny of the Chase Redux

Yes, I follow your drift my friend. Anyhow, the pipes are sexy as hell, curvy and shapely and taut like the sweet little fems I once chased with such reckless and relentless and breathless abandon!:D Currently they adorn my futon in the extra bedroom (the PIPES that is...the fems are long departed). Maybe I should just mount them on the wall as motorcycle art (alongside the fems!)?! ;)

Talked to Art after he was on the horn wit' yous. Got the part #s for the heat shields from Cobra. Maybe HD will exchange the HD shielding I already bought for some gloves or a vest???

Decided on a killer lil' pup whose daddy is one serious bad boy! Mama is tight as well. Great match up for my Beowulf. I'll dub her "Grendel," as in the heroic fable from whence I derived my boy's handle.

I spoke with your wife, dracul.

She said that she will enforce her "no mounting on the walls" policy quite strictly.

You have been warned...

I dig dude. Just would have appreciated a PM telling me the deal was off. I'm actually glad for the ailing chap who now gets the SC. I hope the kit is intact...I just was not sure this was the case. No big deal. Already switched gears, so to speak, and am saving for the 210 kit from CR. Back to the pipes. Went over to Sun Harley Davidson this morning and got some chrome HD shields I'll cut and adapt to the front tube (where my NOS looms) and a bifurcated rear section I'll also cut and grind to cover the confluence point with the megaphone exhaust. The Harley guys thought it looked pretty tricked.

A word to the wise to those of you considering this system: my case may have been unusual. My intensive retrofit efforts may be atypical. Another issue: since these pipes are NOT heat shielded you need to factor in BLUING of the tubes as inevitable, at least to some extent. Look at the track-version Silverback R3 on the Carpenter site and you will readily note extreme bluing of these tubes. Unavoidable. Art has told me the chrome ones tend to blue more than the polished stainless iteration (mine). Consequently, I've sought out some protection for my nitrous and my leg:eek:; think I got the bugger licked. More cutting and grinding...which I don't mind since I'm an artist/illustrator anyway and like to work with my hands. If others among you eschew getting your hands a little soiled, perhaps you should stick with the Jars:rolleyes:

A further note on tube bluing: My bike has blue hi-lights in lighting and paint already and my custom seat will incorporate some azure tones as well. Blued pipes will probably fit the image rather smartly. However, be careful to remove ALL grease, finger prints, etc., with alcohol prior to firing your baby up initially. If you fail to do so your leavings will be permanently impregnated into the blued pipes surface:eek: If you wish to be politically incorrect, as I like to be more often than not, you can finger paint "Eat Sh!t" or FU...or some such...on the header/pipes then fire the sucker up!:D

Added pix: Note Beowulf inspecting pipes. Almost the same color as himself! Equally bad-assed! Nice polishing. The design flows well. Almost equal length of tubes. Spring tensioners. NICE alloy bracket! Solid piece, not hollow.

Hey Drac, appears your dog has a keen interest in the pipes. What does he think of them?

Big dark orifice and spider ham

Well...he didn't pee on 'em, that may be either a good or a bad thing. He may have had some fascination with the big megaphone...thought mebeeee somethin' quick and juicy might emerge:eek: Nothing did, and they smelt of lubricating oil and metal shavings so he's lost interest.

And Phil, I've reassured mama there will be no mounting on the walls...over the futon possibly...but the wall is simply too Peter Parker for us aging boomers;)

That's good news, especially for all you poor blokes way down there on the underbelly of civilization.

ponters, any chance of posting up some pics, installed and uninstalled, as well as some specs and more build/design info? In other words, how's about backing up your claims like, say with a dyno sheet on a stock, tuned bike running your system.
