Can the R3 be lowered?

I put Ikon Shocks on my R3T - lowered the bike by about 35mm without any real loss of cornering. Progressive shocks also do a lowered shock for the R3.

Do you think it's safe to lower more then 35mm, Ikon is the shock Im talking about, I spoke to the makers of Ikon shocks and he told me he can make me shocks @ 35mm, 40mm, 45mm and 50mm lower then standard. the question is can the universal handle the angle and what other obsticles would I be facing lowering the bike that much, 1st being I might need a custom stand. Im a bit more concerned of the engine being too low to the ground.....

If you drop the front and rear equally it shouldnt change the handling at all, just the ground clearance. As long as ya don't over do it.
Sawing off and re padding the side stand is the real PITA.

I put the 11.5" progressive rear shocks, lowered it plenty. That was after cutting some of my seat out. I realised after that there was no need to cut the seat as it is plenty enought lower, have a nice bend in the knees now. I am 170cm but I do notice expecially when missus is on the back, flyweight she is, 49kg, it does bottom out with the travel of the shockie, it doesnt hit the wheel yet it jars your back a bit with the sudden finish of travel.
