Dealers handy work? Took my bike into a dealership one time to have the back tire replaced. Got home and found that the passenger pegs were installed wrong. Folding up in wrong direction. Fixed it. Then when it came around time for a new tire found that they had torqued the axle down to the point of being ridiculous. Had to replace wheel bearings, spacers and several stripped out bolts including the bolts that hold the foot peg rails in place. Had to drill the little guys out. Called the dealership up and explained to them what i had found and required replacement. They told me the guy who that had worked on the bike had been fired. No hope in getting reimbursed for parts. Took a ride out to Oklahoma city a few days later and guess who was still working there? Have not been back to a dealership since then. With a lot of reading and the help on here really can get by doing my own work. A lot less headaches.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I had to have a front tire on a 900 Trophy replaced at a dealership while passing through KY one time. Shortly thereafter the speedometer went out- cable, I thought. Once I got around to pulling the wheel I discovered that I had to use a loooong cheater bar to break the axle nut free. I have to give this dealership credit, I called and complained and they sent me a new speedo hub, axle spacer, and bearings, which had been completely crushed from over torquing by their hired wrench gorilla.

Yes Warp is just checking wheel bearings he believes the torqie is a might much but since it is new and we all know how triumph assemblies are are perfect and there is no reason to think the torque is wrong whether to little or to much :D

Process of elimination. Like checking the runout of things that should run fairly true. Disc fir instance even though they float they can be checked as well as the base of the disc which does float. ABS rings all kinds if things. I like your idea on the gauges. And you should check all shields on the exhaust and the radiator shrouds. Loose screws are comon on new bikes no matter what year. Check you ckutch free play 2 to 3 mm at the lever a dead mans clutch could be spinning the pressure plate bearing and that might be loud at higher rpms. Ive seen guys complain about the noise at idle. Of course if you trust the dealer it is under warrantee.

Scott,
As you have suggested, my rear bearing noise went away by reducing the axle nut torque some.
I reckoned I caught it early and they were still shot, so I replaced all three. No more noise. :D
I have kept the old bearings because I was so surprised they still look and feel as new.
IMHO - any noise at any torque = necessary replacement.
Mine made a clicking noise as I pushed the bike forward in neutral, engine off.
Twas a light click and sounded like a stick or weed was stuck in there.

Most likely the assembly guy at the dealership. I sent an email to them already since this is the 3rd bolt I've found crossthreaded. When I went over everything they were all tight... or so I thought

I guess that note that triumph puts on every part!

Triumph factory to be fitted by trained mechanic, doesn’t mean a thing!!!

Well my tors are scheduled to arrive Friday but I'm dropping the bike off at the dealer Saturday morning. I thought the fork shield being crossthreaded was the cause but it's still there loud as hell.

Any gear (only tested in 1-3) you get it up to 4krpm and it screeches. Sounds like it's coming from the front but I'm not positive. Going to make them ride it while I'm there

Great post. I had something similar on my 05, only when starting, once in awhile, then it went away. I suspected it might be a radiator shroud screw I might have dropped and couldn't find, rattling around in the bottom of the shroud. Now I'll check those front fork thingee's. Hasn't done it in a few weeks though, maybe what ever it was fell off?;)

Ok so I took an hour last night and started tightening everything on the front end then giving her a good cleaning. I cant say I found anything loose but this morning the noise is gone...

I'm suspecting the fork deflectors

Ok so the noise isnt gone :( could not get it to happen this morning but came back this after noon. Also my front brakes are squealing pretty bad. If my front brakes are shot at 1100 miles I'll be pissed

Just crap caught up in pads, no doubt. Remove and clean. If you do find that you have excessive wear to the pads at that mileage you will have certainly found what's causing your mystery noise, although I would think that a sticky caliper would be unusual on a bike with so few miles. I'd see if one of your calipers is getting hot and if the pads on one side are wearing different than the other.

Dropped it off at dealership. They took it for a ride and said they didnt hear anything. Didnt even head the brakes squeal even though I heard them squealing as he pulled in
