Bridgestone Yellow Dot

What does the yellow dot on the Bridgestone sidewall indicate, the lightest or heaviest spot on the tire? I've forgotten.

Sort of related... when I bought my 2011 Ford F150; it had Michelin Scorpions mounted on the wheels... with the big, red dots indicating the lightest part of the tire positioned haphazardly on different areas of the wheel; not even close to the valve stem. And then each wheel was balanced with an ungodly amount of adhesive wheel weights... I'm talking about 10 ounces or more for each wheel. :shock:

Another fine testament of quality of produced product; by the overpaid and disinterested American auto worker. :x

Place the dot next to the valve stem as it is the lightest part of the tyre. It helps with balancing.

I know you have an axe to grind; with management Ed... concerning your own horror story about them.

Management did not mount my trucks tires. A (probably) fat, potbellied UAW worker did. :wink: And Ford Quality control nodded it's approval; before it left the assembly line.

And who is being paid to "manage" the worker doing the job incorrectly? Who is being paid to set the quality control standards? Management can be a very rewarding job, but if that bored, fat line worker is doing a bad job, so are you.

Anyway, Will, I'm asking about the Bridgestones because I've decided to throw new shoes on the Rocket and use it for the MotoGP trip instead of the DR. I'm going down the coast to avoid the heat and the DR is made for the 101 in summer, so we'll see how it goes.
