Well I found the main culprit . I had a BMW style electrical outlet/charger . Been on there since I got the bike almost 4 yrs ago. I guess it was close enough to the frame to wear through the insulation on the frame. It had a hell of a black mark on the case.
Now I can not get the engine to turn over. I have the 12 VDC from the fuse to the relay . Installed a new relay I had in my spares. The tank is off. The stepper switch stays quite. Kill switch is run position. Lights all work. Speedo cycles through boot up. It should be a simple circuit.

is clutch lever pulled in. is the green light for neutral on. anything other than neutral kick stand has to be up. do you have an alarm?
are you talking about 12 volts to the relay with just switch on or when you hit starter button?

Do the headlights turn off when you hit the starter button? The little park lights will stay on, but the headlights should go out. If the headlights remain on then the relay is not working, because it redirects power from the headlights to the starter motor.

if i remember right the starter relay connector has numbers on it. according to the wiring diagram it goes like this.

#1 power enters this terminal and goes out # 5 to dimer switch
to activate the relay power comes from the computer to # 4 then through the coil and out to the starter button where it is grounded to energize the relay. the computer has to receive proper signals from the kick stand.clutch lever, neutral switch before the computer will energize the relay
when the relay energized (if you hold it with two fingers you will fell it click) it switches the power to the dimer switch to #8 terminal to the starter solenoid.

you can have a problem in several ways
the computer has to receive proper signals from the kick stand.clutch lever, neutral switch
if the kick stand is up and the clutch lever is pulled in then that is ok
there are way to by pass the starter relay
MAKE SURE THE BIKE IS IN NEUTRAL
to check starter solenoid.
YOU CAN PUT 12 VOLTS TO #8 SHOULD apply the starter sol and the motor should turn over

I have the Eastern Beaver installed . Also the ignition cable upgrade. Is it possible that one of the EB relays could be bad.
BTW . Bike is in Neutral, side-stand is up , and clutch is in. The green neutral light is on.
I get my 12VDS on the wire coming from the fuse.
With either of the relays. Headlight stays on when the start button is depressed.

The starter relay under the RHS cover is either not working or power is not getting to it.

WITH KEY ON you should have two powers
the one that works headlights and one for working the relay
the computer puts power to operate the relay the starter button grounds the relay.
i think someone had trouble with the starter button you might take that apart and clean it up.
if it is possible you might jump the two wires (temporary ) to see if that works.
i would look close at the kickstand switch wires and the clutch lever switch wires.
if the info that we have covered does not lead you to find the problem i think it is time for an expert.
you can start probing the computer but i don't know if you have the experience.
however if it was mine i would put power to the starter solenoid to turn the motor over and try to start that machine.

Had trouble with both the clutch and sidestand switches in the past .. have the clutch by-passed now.
