I love the Avons, been running them for years (stock size) but be careful when they're cold I find the Metzelers gripped better from cold especially in the rain.
After 10 minutes riding, the Avons are far superior.
Avons Cobra wear even, are predictable and last longer. I've had rear Metz just peel off the cords, just like that the last 2mm of rubber fell off, when I though it was still good for a while.
Yep.
The 55 section on the rear along with the 140 on the front reduces the rake by 1°.
This makes a significant difference to the handling, as I have often said it makes the stock set up feel as tho' I was riding through mud.
Getting rid of the darkside. Have a Exedra Max sitting in the living room. Will be getting that done this morning. Going a different route on the front. Michelin Scorcher II 140/75R17. Just not a big fan of Avon's. Had a set front and back stock sizes and was not impressed. Better than the stock tires but no where near as good as the Michelin commanders on the Harley. Figured might as well give it shot. The Scorcher II is more or less a sport tire used on the V-Rod as a stock tire. Yes the tire says Harley Davidson on it but it is made by Michelin. Did a lot of reading up on the Scorcher II and if all is true should be a hell of a combo with the Exedra Max. Only one way to find out, just do it. Tire should be here today. Went ahead the other day and got the throttle body adjusted with Tune ECU and the TPS'S adjusted. Still need to replace fuel filter and change the oil again. All that will be done in the next couple of days since we took two days vacation. Got a set of Wilbers coming in and looking forward to getting some decent shocks installed. Is all this leading up to something, YOU BET. Love the way the Ramair sounds but got a feeling it would sound a lot better with a new set of PIPES. anxiousness is a understatement.

I run the Excedra Max on the rear, I get the best mileage from this tyre than any other and have no problems with it sticking.
I've now fitted an Avon Cobra to the front and it feels gooood ! But have dropped to the 140 section, down from the standard 150 size, a vast improvement in handling.
