I'm still on my first front Avon, and don't like it as much as the Metz, as it aquaplanes at anything over 70 in heavy rain. Never noticed that with the Metz.

There you go, Paul, two posts and two different opinions

I have run both on my beast and like the Avon in the front as it seems to wear better. I alway like matched sets but I have run metz on the back and avaon on the front with no complaints. If I were you I woul dlook into the bridgestones. I have heard great things about them. Grip is good and mileage is much better then the others.

On a second not I love the conti race attacks but you need a 18 inch rear rim to use them.

I've had Metz & Avons - no difference in handling wet or dry. I rode through the worst storm this century with the Avons, -even traversed a flash-flood, - no problem with handling at all.

My only concern would be the recent(ish) problems with Avons - have they resolved the issue?

If a company says that everything has been corrected after they admit to a faulty batch, they had better be sure. They would be leaving themselves wide open to law suits if they fixed nothing after admitting a fault existed. Not only bad pr but legal suicide as well. If they never admitted fault I could understand your concern though.
