Thinking of picking up the XX6 disk brake lock from Xena. Has a built in alarm also.

This particular model supposedly will fit the VTX, the Vstrom and my Triumph Rocket.

I know that some folks have had issues forgetting that the disk lock is installed, as they attempt to drive off. Since this one is very sensitive to shock/movement and will alarm; I think it would be a good reminder. I also am planning to purchase one of these streamers, and attach it to the lock; to server as a secondary reminder:

Thoughts?

How loud is that alarm?
say compared to a stebil horn.
1) Almost as loud,
2) not even close,
3) more like our stock horn,
4) i can hum louder.
Any of these close?
I'd like to get some IF they're loud.

Who's gonna steal a Rocket? Due to the relative rarity and obscurity of one, I can't imagine it is worth the hassle to bike thieves. It's not like a Harley, where parts are interchangeable over multiple models and years, or Jap bikes where there is a several hundred thousand model customer base to make the stripped parts worth anything.

I just can't imagine it's high up on a list of stolen bikes. Lats time I looked I think the most stolen bike was the CBR 600.

Bikes can be stolen for a lot of reasons. Not just for parting out, or resale. Joyriders are a concern of mine. Especially after it's been determined how easy it is to hotwire a Rocket.

I have had one for about a year and a half. I really like it. I only use it when I am on overnight trips, and have to park it outside the hotel. The alarm is plenty loud enough to attract attention, and will keep honest people honest. For a little more money you could get a full on alarm system... But I really didn't see the need. The majority of people seem to respect bikes, and the ones that don't will be deterred by the noise and the lock.
