The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is the largest motorcycle rally in the world. It is held annually in Sturgis, South Dakota for 10 days during the first week of August. 2021 will mark the 81st annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
I was there in 1975 on a brand new Norton 850 Commando MKIII with the extra weight the electric (non) starter gave me.
I have watched it evolve over the years and if I were to visit the area you can bet it would be anytime other than when the Rally is going on. I just can't do things like that any more!
A 72-year-old motorcyclist was killed and seven others were injured in crashes on Saturday during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, South Dakota Highway Patrol says.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol identified Shawn Lee Rector, 59, and Susan Renee Rector, 54, of Frederick, CO, as the couple killed in a motorcycle crash on Highway 14A near Deadwood.

It is like either common sense has left the building or people are riding beyond their skill level because there are so many bikes and who knows what kind of riding they have done in the past. And, as mentioned above, intoxicants may be playing a role. Maybe not impaired to the point of legally under the influence but enough to take the edge off of their common sense,
I met up with Lupe, Fred and Melissa at Lead on my way home to Idaho from visiting my daughter in Bellwood, IL (Outside Chicago. I had to get some of that great deepdish pizza).
