Airhawk R- so far very impressed!

Overinflating will in fact hurt its performance, it's only meant to be a thin layer between you and the seat to distribute your weight over your entire butt; it primarily works by relieving hotspots that form under the tailbone, for instance. The Airhawk-R is the model that has cutouts that leaves the scrotum and that area without direct pressure.

However, I'm not aware of this really being aimed to improve the back. Just to deal with butt pain for longer rides. I suppose it might help if it slightly alters your posture or something.

I have had a non-R model for a few years (the large cruiser model) but don't bother using it on the Rocket much.

Yay!!!!! It's here!!!
I haven't been this excited since the new phone book came out......

Tried mine out this morning

I followed the instructions when initially setting it up, however riding in this morning I felt like I was to tall in the saddle,

I stopped to gas up, adjusted the air some more, and adjusted it again when I got to work.

This may take some getting used to.......

Also it almost feels like the AirHawk R which only comes in one size may be too short in the length, the width is ok but moving front to back in the saddle I feel like I'm going to come off the thing.

I guess worst case it will work fine on the passenger pillion.

The R is purposely made that way so that your scrotum is uh in the breeze. :D You're probably supposed to have it scooted back far enough to sit on the cushion.

They make a non-R model, the large cruiser, that is more full length and doesn't have the front cutout.

The trick to these is to put in almost no air at first. Then if that feels wrong, you add a tiny amount, etc. It's supposed to feel nearly empty of air when you pick it up and squeeze it, once you sit on it and put load on the entire cushion the little air that is in there spreads evenly and generates a very thin cushion that offloads the hotspots you'd otherwise have.

If it feels firm like an air mattress or something like that when you aren't sitting on it, it's way overfilled.

Thanks Elvis!! About to order.
It started snowing this am, switched to sleet, and then rain. Crappy Northern Michigan weather....

bummer, it has been in the high 60's here with some low temp nights but no snow. I was just south of Akron, OH this week and they were supposed to get snow when I left Weds.
