I run my Avon at 42psi anything less makes the front end feel vague to say the least !

That is the PSI that most of the people on here have recommended for a car tire. Had 41 PSI in the rear tire and it was horrible. Dropped to 31 psi and had a improvement in handling. Just got done adding air to front 43 PSI and dropping back tire to 29 PSI. On my way to work 120 mile round trip so I guess will find out if it worked or not. Hopefully I can find a open stretch of highway and open it up a bit to see if wobble is gone if not it will be a fun weekend turning a wrench again.

If it is just the car tire that is causing the problem (hopefully not) then it will not be on the bike for long.

I just edited my post as I realised I forgot to add that the steadiness at high speed was with an Exedra Max on the rear after I dumped the car tire. I'm not against anyone using car tires and could care less if you do, just reporting my experience.

You may want to check your headstock bearing. If the nut gets loose (which has happened to at least one Captain that I know) it will cause a high speed wobble.

The fussing with low air pressure for stability purposes with a car tire SHOULD provide you a hint!

Not clear if you are referring to 42 front or rear, but 42 be pretty high IMHO.
Since installing my Fobo bluetooth monitors I have been impressed with how much pressure increases with temperature from riding.
I experienced 6 lbs pressure increases during the RAA XI rides!
I keep mine about 36 front & 38 rear @ 65°.
