A Community Act of Comaraderie

On Thursday, January 30, a relatively new member on this site, Roger Cox (screen name, RogerRabbit) was tragically hit head on by a drunken driver who crossed the center line colliding with Roger on his R3. He was severely injured and was really touch and go for a good while, but he has shown amazing resilience and is now on a sure, but slow road to recovering from his extensive injuries. There is a thread here entitled Rocket Rider Down which details his ordeal.

In the last few days, one of Roger's daughters started a "Praying for Roger" page on Facebook. I know that it means alot to Roger and for his family to know that there are many people who are rooting for his recovery.

There are lots of folks that come to this site, content to read, but not post and that's fine, but we are a community and it would be a good deed and a blessing for each and every one of us to support a compatriot when he needs it most.

Here's a photo of Roger"Rabbit" Cox on his new Roadster shortly before the accident.



His lovely wife, Teri, thought that the membership might enjoy seeing it and she wanted one and all to know that Roger, she and the rest of their family are feeling everyone's good thoughts and prayers; they mean alot to them and they have gone a long way to help them deal with matters better. Teri says "thanks" to all of us from the bottom of her heart and also that Roger has really been moved by the outpouring of concern and support.

The good news is that we can cautiously say that Roger is on the road to recovery. That said, Mrs. Cox (Teri) informed me yesterday that Roger will likely remain in the ICU for another 2-3 weeks and subsequent to his being stepped down into a lower risk ward in the hospital, he will be transferred out for what will probably be a long-term inpatient stay in a rehabilitative/physical therapy facility. Our fellow rider has a long, hard road to travel ahead of him!

Having spent nearly two weeks in ICU and two months in a hospital room, I can relate that this is indeed the start of the hard part for Roger.
This is where you finally begin to realize you're going to make it and feel just good enough for the long recovery ahead to sink in.
Take it day by day, Roger. Revel in the company of those who truly love you. The tribulation shall end and you will be stronger for the experience.
