I just thought I'd share with those in the colder climates that we in Southern NV are trying to get the miles in for the rest of you. Yesterday (Sunday Feb 16th) we had 81 degrees and not a cloud in sight. So it was time to let the R3 stretch its legs. As this is the first day long ride I have done on her since I bought it a couple of weeks ago I quickly realized that I would be contributing to the Policeman's fund on a regular basis. How the hell do you guys keep that thing anywhere close to the speed limit? I also figured out I need the risers on it (ordered them last night). Other things I noticed is the fuel gauge is just advisory - it was showing low on gas, and my miles to go was getting low so I filled up - with 3 gallons! So I'll be going back to using the trip to calculate how much gas is left. Did that for 10 yrs on the Harley so no biggie. Waiting for the relay fix to arrive so I can get a brighter headlamp bulb fitted. This one reminded me of my Lucas days (aka Prince of Darkness) when the headlamp appeared to absorb more light than it emits. But other than these teething problems, love the bike and cant wait to put some real miles on it. Maybe do the Iron Butt again just for fun! See you out there!

Welcome from Tucson Arizona
i know what you mean
i have the classic that has two smaller lights the problem with the lights is that when you have them on high beam they blind the other drivers and when on low beams they shine just in front of the front tire and you can't see $hit.
i think yours might be the same you might want to research the threads on lights before you do anything.
also the fuel lite seams to come on at half a tank. you would always want to keep the pump submerged in the gas to keep it from getting hot.

All I can say is it was 0°F here yesterday. We have not been above freezing since before Christmas! Enjoy the riding

DISCRIMINATION......That's what it is.......blatant discrimination. You southern folks keep treating us like....like a bunch of northerners. :( NOT NICE.....

Is there an "unlike" button around I can press?;)

Why am I drooling?????

Welcome, Bob.
Agree about the fuel gage. Same thing with my Roadster. Even after the light's been on for 30 - 40 mile it takes under 5 gals.
I ran it up to 220 miles on the trip once (my bro was carrying a gas can on his Stratoliner) and still didn't run out - BUT it did take 5.7 gals.
I also installed the Beaver ignition wires for good measure and have just went with new LED Daymaker headlights to improve the lighting. They have a 7" for the RT - spendy; but, well worth it.

Shall be in Laughlin on business for a week next month and can't wait for some decent weather.

I just want to know are 'donations' annual or bi-annual? I'm still waiting for parts to arrive so I can tinker with the old gal.
